The Best Deals for Roses

British men looking to buy their loved one a dozen red roses this Valentine’s Day should stay clear of the Internet and department stores and buy them from their local roadside seller or petrol station, according to the latest Savvy Shopper report.

• The average Internet florist will be asking for £51.47 to deliver the flowers in time on Valentine’s Day. Alternatively, roadside sellers estimations of prices on Valentine’s Day vary wildly from £8 per dozen in Newcastle to £40 per dozen in Manchester, with an overall average of £22.

• The findings come from the latest Savvy Shopper report from Morgan Stanley Credit Card Services, which uncovers the best bargains and biggest rip-offs for UK shoppers this year.*

• Local florists are not much cheaper than their Web-based rivals, charging an average of £49.62 to deliver a dozen roses. The average local petrol station, on the other hand, estimated that they would charge only £15.00, as well as giving any eager Valentine the opportunity to check their tyre pressure and top up the windscreen wash for their weekend away.

• A number of department stores also offer rose delivery, but with an average price of £40.75 for a dozen blooms.
